Here we go!
In September we made the epic decision that we have just enough room in our family for two more little feet. We have jumped in with both feet and eager hearts preparing the paperwork to adopt again from Vietnam, we have requested a relinquished child from the northern province of Lang Son, the same province Natalie is from.
Naturally the paperwork process can not move quickly enough once the decision has been made. We hope to have it all together to send to Vietnam in early December but much of it is not in our control.
Once our paperwork is sent to Vietnam, our adoption agency will review the list of children that are ready for adoption, if there is a child that is a good match for us, our adoption agency will officially request, to the Vietnam government that the match be made and that the child is proposed to us for adoption. We hope that the right child will be matched with us quickly.
In my heart of hearts I hope to see a proposal by the spring- but I am probably being optimistic as it is anyone's best guess as to when we will receive a proposal.
Once we receive a proposal will will make travel arrangements to go back to Vietnam to adopt our child. The child will be between 8 months and about 2 yrs old- We think! We expect some challenges through the first year but feel that it won't be anything we can't manage as we have a very strong support network.
The next few months for us will include:
-homestudy update: we will be meeting with our social worker 3 more times to update our report.
-applying for immigration: This was one of the hardest parts last year, I hope the federal CIC has been through some improvements since last time. We will be ready to solicit assistance from our MP sooner than later this time- as they told us last time "you should have called us earlier".
-medical assessments: funny as our doctor is on maternity leave- guess we will hit a walk in clinic
- renew passports
-getting all of our identification notarized
Knowing me, it will be done in a week...I may not sleep....but it will be done....
Stay tuned to join us on our journey as this amazing adventure unfolds.
